What are street newspapers?
Street newspapers provide the public with information concerning poverty issues and create employment for low-income people via newspaper sales.
The North American Street Newspaper Association (NASNA) was created to support this movement and to ensure that the products uphold ethical standards of journalism and promote self-help and empowerment among people living in poverty. NASNA organizes annual conferences to offer skill workshops, networking opportunities and generate ideas for expansion of the street newspaper movement. The NASNA also provides a national directory of street newspapers across North America.
