200 Largest American Charities
Forbes' annual list of America's 200 largest charities ranks the country's largest nonprofits in terms of private donations. In addition to single-year contributions, the list considers donations in the form of government grants, sales of services or products, and investments. On average, the nonprofits had $515 million in annual revenue in 2008, up 5 percent from 2007. Donations accounted for $204 million, or 40 percent of revenue. In 2008, the top 10 on the list were:

- Salvation Army
- American Cancer Society
- Food for the Poor
- YMCA of the USA
- Feed the Children
- AmeriCares Foundation
- Catholic Charities USA
- Gifts in Kind International
- World Vision
