Christian Appalachian Project
An interdenominational Christian organization, the Christian Appalachian Project offers physical, spiritual and emotional support to Appalachian residents. The group focuses on helping poor children, elderly and disabled individuals in this 13 state region. Father Ralph W. Beiting, a Kentucky priest, founded the organization in the 1960s and it has grown to serve more than 1 million people each year with emergency assistance, intervention, education and home repair services.
