Ford Foundation
The Ford Foundation is an international organization that provides grants and fellowships to individuals and groups working to reduce injustice and promote international cooperation. Headquartered in New York City, the Ford Foundation's programs are broken down into three major areas: Asset Building & Community Development; Peace & Social Justice; and Education, Media, Arts & Culture. One of the foundation's newest award programs, Leadership for a Changing World, was established to provide assistance to outstanding community leaders across the country.
Created in 1936, the foundation operated as a local philanthropy under the portfolio of Ford Motor Company in the state of Michigan. In 1950 it was expanded nationally and later internationally. Since its inception, it has provided more than $10 billion in financial assistance to worthy causes and people.
